Pharmacy Technician Program
Pharmacy Technician Program Description
The Pharmacy Technician Program at Global Career Institute trains health prepares you to work in both hospitals and retail pharmacies under the supervision of a pharmacist. Pharmacy Technicians prepare and fill prescriptions under the direction of a pharmacist, issue medications, and label and store supplies. If you are interested in a career working alongside pharmacists, then consider the Global Career Institute pharmacy technician training program. Graduates of Global Career Institute’s pharmacy technician program will have learned the basic aspects of pharmacy practice, including reading, filling and distributing prescriptions. Our pharmacy technician program students will understand the legal responsibilities of a pharmacy for record maintenance and the handling of various categories of drugs. In addition, the program teaches basic pharmaceutical calculations, medications, common drug interactions and their side effects and pharmaceutical agents and their uses. Upon completion of the pharmacy technician training, graduates will be prepared for entry-level employment working with pharmacists in retail or on-line pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, pharmaceutical companies and more. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of pharmacy technicians is expected to increase by 31 percent from 2008 to 2018, which is much faster than the average for all occupations. As cost-conscious insurers begin to use pharmacies as patient-care centers and pharmacists become more involved in patient care, pharmacy technicians will continue to see an expansion of their role in the pharmacy.* Our Pharmacy Technician program has been designed to prepare you for an entry-level position as a pharmacy technician through the study of theoretical and practical skills consistent with the pharmaceutical industry’s expectations of the technician position. The curriculum is also structured to prepare you for the PTCB certification exam.
